Not at all! Not only does the Hipstamatic come with a great set of standard lenses and films, additional ones are bundled in "HipstaPaks" (2-5 lenses, flashes, and/or films that go well together). The current Portland, Williamsburg, and Shibuya HipstaPaks are only a buck each, and the Williamsburg comes with a lens, a film, and three flash gels!
This error occurs if you have a jailbroken iPhone, and unfortunately we can’t support you if this is the case. Our best recommendation is to either remove the jailbreak, or see if Google will be your friend and figure out a fix for yourself.
Update: Thanks to Hipstamatic user James, we have what appears to be a fix for this issue. James says:
I figured it out just thought I’d drop you a line and let you know how i did it....
I had to uninstall AppSync from Cydia and delete the Hipstamatic app from my phone, then restart the phone and sync Hipstamatic back on my phone through iTunes (make sure its checked in the Applications tab). I was then able to purchase the packs.
Hope this helps. Great app, absolutely worth every penny!
The Hipstamatic is currently exclusive to iPhone. If and when we decide to port it to other mobile operating systems we’ll be sure to let you know, however there are no current conversions in the works.
The date stamp on the BlacKeys film is, in fact, accurate — minus about 30 years. Since the film we’re emulating originates from around that time, we thought it would make more sense to retro-date the stamp on the prints.
No worries — there are a number of ways to get your HipstaPaks (or even your Hipstamatic) back if you've lost or deleted them.
Firstly, the App Store is smart enough to keep track of all the purchases you’ve ever made. So even if you do try to buy the Hipstamatic or a HipstaPak that you already have purchased, Apple will alert you and you can download the item again for free (as long as you are using the same iTunes Account that you purchased it with).
Secondly, there is a button built-in to the HipstaMart (tap on the shopping cart icon from the camera front) called "Restore Purchases." Just tap on this and all your HipstaPak purchases will be restored free of charge.
This is a great question, and the reason for this limitation has to do with what our goals and aspirations were when we set out to build this app. Hipstamatic is a camera app, and it seeks to recreate the experience of using an old analog camera as accurately as possible. Some of the greatest qualities of these old cameras was their unpredictability and quirkiness, and we wanted to bring that to the iPhone. Post-processing images takes away from this magic, so for now it’s not an option for Hipstamatic.
However, we can say that we’re working on a brand new app that aims to be just as amazing and unique as the Hipstamatic but works solely with images from your Photo Library (and is being built for iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad). We can’t say anything more just yet, but keep posted on our Facebook and Twitter pages for more news in the coming weeks.
Other technical issues and bugs: Periodically we post tech notes on our Facebook page if new bugs come up that effect a large number of our users.
Through the magic of the App Store, each time a new Model of Hipstamatic is released you'll automatically be able to download it for free to your iPhone. Check out the past, current, and soon-to-be-coming models of the Hipstamatic:
